During a New Patient Exam, a qualified dentist will thoroughly check your entire mouth, including your teeth and gums. They will take standard x-rays (bitewings) to identify any dental issues like cavities, decay, or gum inflammation. The dentist will also perform charting, an audit of each tooth, which will be recorded in your patient file.
If any treatment is needed, the dentist will provide a Treatment Plan at the end of the session. This plan will include recommended treatments, their costs, and available options, such as different materials for crowns. There is no obligation to proceed with any treatments, and there is no pressure or upselling.
Our dentists aim to ensure you receive the best dental care and understand all your options. They can also advise on tooth whitening and other aesthetic treatments.
In simple terms a New Patient Exam appointment is not for anyone in pain or having just had a dental emergency that is causing concern. No treatment will be done at all at a New Patient Exam – all treatment will be done at following visits. If you would like to find out more about our Emergency Dental Appointments click here.
